NDFB(S) attack SSB camp along Indo-Bhutan border

Guwahati, Aug 22 (IBNS) : Bodo militant group National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sangbijit faction) had attacked on a camp of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) along Indo-Bhutan border on Thursday night following a hardcore militant of the outfit being killed in an encounter with the security forces in Assam’s Kokrajhar district.

According to reports, a section of the Bodo outfit group had attacked on a SSB camp at Ultapani area in Kokrajhar district along Indo-Bhutan border on Thursday night.

“The militants had attacked to security forces by firing with assault rifles and hurled grenades and bullets were exchanged for an hour,” a police official of Kokrajhar district said.

The militant group had managed to flee to nearest jungle after counter attacked from security personnel.

There have no report of any casualties so far.

Assam Police IGP of BTAD LR Bisnoi said that, the attack was followed after a hardcore militant of the outfit group was killed in a gun battle with security forces at at Mainaguri under Kasugaon police station in Kokrajhar district around 9-15 pm on Thursday.

The militant was killed during a joint operation of police and 20th AP(IR)Bn.

“The Bodo militant was injured in the gun battle and he was shifted to hospital. Later he died in hospital,” the police official said.

Security forces recovered one 7.65 pistol with 2 rounds of live ammunition, one empty case and one magazine in possession of the slain militant.

On Aug 20, five NDFB(S) militants were killed in gun battle with security forces in Chirang district.
