NIA arrests late Cong MLA's daughter-in-law over ISIS links

| @indiablooms | Jan 04, 2022, at 02:30 pm

Bengaluru/UNI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday arrested BM Basha's daughter-in-law Deepthi Marla alias Mariam for suspected ISIS links.

Basha is son of former Ullal MLA late BM Idinabba, who was a Congress leader and was elected as an MLA for three times in the Karnataka state assembly from Ullal constituency. Mariam is the wife of Anas Abdul Rahiman, who is the son of Basha.

The arrest was made during the raid on Basha's house.

Though the NIA interrogated Mariam twice before last year, they had not arrested her, but were keeping an eye on her movements.

Marla had converted to Islam and changed her name to Mariam after marrying to Anas.

They fell in love while studying BDS at a college in Deralakatte here.

NIA suspects her to have links with ISIS and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. She is suspected of running a racket of recruiting youths to the ISIS network.
