Patna, Sept 23 (IBNS) The Janata Dal United-Rashtriya Janata Dal-Congress Mahagathbandhan on Wednesday announced its list of 242 candidates for the Bihar Assembly polls.

The candidate for Rajgir which will be contested by the JDU is yet to be announced.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the list in Patna on the last day of nomination for the first of the five-phase  elections beginning on October 12.

He was accompanied by RJD Bihar president Ramchandra Purve, Congress state unit chief Ashok Choudhary and JDU state chief, Nitish Kumar claimed that all is well within the Mahagathbandhan unlike its rivals where massive rebellion marred ticket distribution.

Targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance, the Bihar Chief Minister accused it of playing divisive politics and not focusing on development.

We want to make it clear that development is our biggest factor for the polls but the BJP is only interested in creating divides," he said.

Nitish Kumar claimed that while preparing the list of candidates of the alliance comprising his party, RJD and the Congress, attempts were made to  ensure representation all sections of  society and there were no complaints within the  'Maha Gathbandhan'.

"Everybody, even Lalu ji agreed I should announce the list of the candidates...We received word from Congress last evening," he said.
