'No one can beat PM Modi': Pawan Kalyan defends PM, slams critics over protest row
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Saturday strongly defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying no leader in the country could match him and asserting that the more a leader works, the more criticism they attract.
Speaking at a public meeting after inaugurating the Rs 5,700-crore Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram near Visakhapatnam, the Jana Sena Party chief appeared to refer to the recent protests over the exam paper leak while criticising what he described as attacks on the Prime Minister.
'What does the new generation know?'
Referring to the criticism directed at PM Modi, Kalyan said younger generations were unaware of the struggles the Prime Minister had faced before reaching the country's highest office.
"The more you work, the more you get criticised... What does the new generation know? The struggles he went through," Kalyan said.
He also claimed that the Prime Minister was deeply hurt by the alleged abusive remarks made against him during the protests.

"His heart moved, his eyes welled with tears and he felt bad," Kalyan said.
Credits Modi for development
Praising Modi's leadership, Kalyan said the Prime Minister had never taken a day's leave and was simultaneously dealing with external security challenges and internal obstacles while pursuing India's development.
He alleged that while many people were trying to hold back the aspirations of 144 crore Indians, one leader continued to take the country forward.
"That one and only leader is Narendra Modi," he said.
Kalyan further claimed there was "no leader who can beat PM Modi in the country" and added that no comparable leader was likely to emerge in the near future.
Bhogapuram airport a result of Modi's support
The deputy chief minister credited the Prime Minister for major infrastructure projects and investments in Andhra Pradesh, including the newly inaugurated Bhogapuram airport.
According to him, the airport symbolised the benefits of supporting Modi's leadership and also validated his decision to ally with the Jana Sena Party, the BJP and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Advice to parents after protests
Against the backdrop of the recent protests in the national capital, Kalyan urged parents to guide children below the age of 25 towards the "right values."
He stressed that families should ensure young people remained on the right path amid growing political and social tensions.
'PM should remain as long as he wants'
Calling Modi's leadership unparalleled, Kalyan said governing a nation of over 140 crore people was far more challenging than running a family.
"I am saluting the feet of such a Prime Minister," he said, while praising Modi's ability to forgive those who had allegedly criticised him.
Kalyan also asserted that Modi should continue as Prime Minister for as long as he wished.
"Power should remain with Narendra Modi, and he should relinquish it only when he doesn't desire it. We will strive towards this goal endlessly," he said.
