Odisha government yet to accept resignation of BJP candidate, party leaders resort to dharna

| @indiablooms | Apr 03, 2019, at 05:28 pm

Bhubaneswar, Apr 2 (UNI) Odisha BJP leaders today sat on a dharna in front of the Naveen Niwas protesting against the inordinate delay by the state government in accepting the resignation of their party candidate for the Saraskana Assembly seat.

Odisha state BJP vice-president Samir Mohanty, spokesperson Lekhasree Samantaray and Dr Bhudan Murmu, the BJP candidate for Saraskana Assembly seat, sat on dharna in protest.

They sat on dharna after meeting the political secretary of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Both Mr Mohanty and Samantray said though Dr Bhudan Murmu had resigned from his job on October 4, 2018, his resignation has not yet been accepted by the government.

The BJP leaders alleged that while the government was accepting the resignation of officials contesting as BJD candidate, it was deliberately delaying in accepting the resignation of Dr Murmu.

Mohanty alleged that the BJD government was against the the tribals and did not want Dr.Murmu to contest the election as BJP candidate.

He said they were told by the government officials that the file of Dr Murmu is being processed.

The BJP leaders said they would continue their dharna till the resignation of Dr Murmu is accepted by the government.
