New Delhi, Feb 13 (IBNS): Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu has asked officers and civil servants to come with out of the box ideas to ensure proper delivery of services.

He was interacting with participants of the 43rd Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration of IIPA, here on Tuesday.

The Vice President said that uplifting the poorest of the poor must be the priority.

He asked officers of all government departments to have a pro-poor, pro-rural, pro-weaker section approach in while implementing policies.

The governance systems must keep the people at the centre of their functioning, they must think in terms of delivery, he added.

The Vice President said that officials should be competent, creative and pro-active and they must encourage people’s participation in governance.

No Scheme can be successful without people’s participation, he added.

The Vice President called on every citizen must become an active contributor in nation building.

He further said that we must now ensure that we deepen the roots and ensure that fruits of democratic governance reach all the people.

He asked all the participating officers to learn from the best practices worldwide and apply it imaginatively to the Indian context.

They should be focused on the outcomes and the impact, he added.
