New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed confidence that his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will return to power for the straight third term despite "desperation" by the Opposition.

Speaking on the BJP's 44th foundation day, Modi said as quoted by NDTV, "The opposition is very desperate but no one can defeat the BJP in 2024."

The Prime Minister made the comment referring to the Congress' slogans of "Modi teri kabr khudegi" (Modi, your grave will be dug)."

Modi further said, "Many political parties, in the name of Social Justice, have just played with the country. On the other hand, Social Justice has not been a political slogan, but an 'Article of Faith' for the BJP!"

He said, "BJP has taken birth from the womb of Democracy, has been nourished and nurtured with the 'Amrit' of Democracy, and has been deeply consecrated to strengthen the Constitution and Democracy!"

The BJP, which is spearheaded by the Prime Minister, will face its next political test in Karnataka which will go to polls in May.
