Parliamentary panel proposes double salary hike for MPs

New Dehi, Jul 2 (IBNS) A parliamentary panel has recommended doubling the salaries of parliamentarians and a 75 per cent rise in pension for former MPs.

Media reports said the  joint committee,headed by Bhartiya Janata Party leader Yogi Adityanath  has submitted its recommendations to the government.

It  has also proposed an automatic pay revision mechanism for parliamentarians.

 like the pay commission for government employees reported the Times of India.

The panel is reported to have  made around 60 recommendations in all. 

At present, sitting MPs get a monthly salary of Rs 50,000. The panel has also recommended that the daily allowance of Rs 2,000, which they get for attending the House during Parliament sessions, should be raised substantially.
