PFI ban message to anti-nationals: Karnataka CM Bommai

| @indiablooms | Sep 28, 2022, at 05:58 pm

Bengaluru/UNI: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai Wednesday said the ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI) has sent a strong message that anti-national outfits will not survive in this country.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have taken a right decision to ban the PFI and its affiliated organisations.

"It is a message for all anti-national groups that they will not survive in this country," he told reporters here.

He said the PFI was an avatar of the erstwhile Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and some of its leaders went across the borders and gained training, he said, in an oblique reference to Pakistan.

"That is how they were involved in anti-national activities and the time had come to ban these organisations," he said.

Home Minister Araga Jnanendra welcomed the ban on PFI and other related organisations.

The PFI has been accused of having links with Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) besides the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
