Phulwama Attack: PM Modi chairs Cabinet Committee on Security meet, Arun Jaitley attends
New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI/IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to review situation and decide on further course of action after the dastardly terror attack at Pulwama.
The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who was ill and had gone abroad for treatment.
In Mr Jaitley's absence, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal handled the finance ministry for sometime and also presented the interim Budget on February 1.
The CCS meeting was attended among others by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Interestingly, in a tweet on Thursday evening, Mr Jaitley had said, "Terrorists will be given unforgettable lesson for their heinous act" in Pulwama.
On Thursday evening, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said at Nagpur - "We expect action in response to this incident. We have tolerated a lot and are still doing so....They will get a reply".
In one of the worst terror attacks on security personnel in recent times, at least 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were martyred and 14 others injured when a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant rammed an IED laden vehicle into the forces' convoy at Awantipora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Thursday afternoon.
Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the Fidayeen (suicide) attack even as India slammed Pakistan for giving full freedom to the militant group in its territory to prepare for attacking Indian securitymen.
