PM Modi gives Easter greetings to citizens

New Delhi, Apr 5 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday greeted citizens on the occasion of Easter.
"Easter greetings to everyone. May this day further the spirit of harmony and brotherhood in society," he said in his message.

"The teachings of Jesus Christ inspire entire humanity. Let us pledge ourselves to create a world that is just, compassionate and joyful," the Prime Minister said.

Easter or Resurrection Sunday is a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by Romans at Calvary.

It is the culmination of the Passion of Christ, preceded by Lent (or Great Lent), a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance.
