New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narenda Modi will hold a meeting on Covid-19 and the situation of vaccination in India and top officers across ministries will participate in the meeting, said media reports.

The Prime Minister's meeting comes on a day when India recorded 2,34,692 fresh infections and 1,341 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, earlier in the day, appealed that the annual  Kumbh Mela, which is currently underway in Uttrakhand's Haridwar, should now be only symbolic to curb the mounting coronavirus cases in the country.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan also chaired a meeting with the health ministers of 11 states/UTs to review the measures taken by them to prevent, contain and manage the recent surge in Covid-19 cases.

According to the health ministry data, more than 12 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far.
