Pokemon Go: PIL in Gujarat HC saying game hurts religious sentiments

| | Sep 07, 2016, at 08:02 pm
Ahmedabad, Sep 7 (IBNS): The Gujarat High Court has issued notices to the centre, the state and Nianctic Inc after a public interest litigation was filed saying that the reality game Pokemon Go has hurt religious sentiments, the media reported on Wednesday.

Niantic Inc is the San Francisco based developer of the location-based augmented reality game Pokemon Go, which is yet to be officially released in India.

According to the petition filed, the game is asking the players to collect eggs from religious places, such as temples, which hurts the sentiments of Hindus and Jains.

The HC has asked the centre and the state government to respond to the notice in four weeks, media reported.
