Police arrest rhino poacher in Assam’s Golaghat district

Guwahati/IBNS: One rhino poacher was arrested by police and recovered ammunition in Assam’s Golaghat district.

According to the reports of police, the arrested poacher identified as Chandra Doley was involved in rhino killing incidents in Kaziranga National Park.

Acting on a tip-off, police had launched an operation at Palasguri village under Bokakhat police station in Golaghat district on Monday and recovered ammunition from the rhino poacher house.

The police team recovered 17 rounds of live ammunition including five rounds of .303 rifle and 12 rounds .315 which were kept hidden underground inside of the house.

A police officer of Golaghat district said that the arrested poacher was involved in rhino killing incidents in Kaziranga National Park.

Police have registered a case (no 315/2020) at Bokakhat police station under section 25 (1A) of Arms act.
