'Political harassment, vendetta by Modi govt': Kharge on Tamil Nadu minister Balaji's arrest

New Delhi/UNI: Stepping up his attack on Narendra Modi-led government, Congress president Mallikaarjun on Wednesday said the arrest of Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is nothing but "political harassment and vendetta" by the ruling dispensation.

"Congress condemns the late-night arrest of Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V Senthil Balaji by the ED. This is nothing but political harassment and vendetta by the (Narendra) Modi government against those opposed to it," said party chief Mallikarjun Kharge.

Kharge, who has been accusing the ruling BJP of "misusing" the Central probe agencies against political opponents, further said, "None of us in the Opposition will be intimidated by such brazen moves."

Earlier, he said, "These tactics will not succeed in silencing the Opposition. They only reinforce its determination and resolve to continue its democratic struggle against the 'anti-people' policies of the Modi government."

The ED on Wednesday arrested Balaji after it conducted raids at his premises in connection with an alleged money laundering case.
