Bengaluru/UNI: Poll strategist Sunil Kanugolu has been appointed Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's Chief Advisor.

Kanugolu's appointment comes in the wake of his role in Congress party's resounding victory in Karnataka assembly election as a poll strategist. His Mindshare Analytics played a stellar role in ensuring the defeat of the BJP.

On May 31, CM Siddaramaiah had directed Karnataka Chief Secretary to issue an official order in this regard.

Kanugolu has been honoured with a cabinet rank, and would play a stellar role in the CM's Office.

Born in Ballari, Kanugolu was associated with political strategist Prashant Kishor, who together had conceptualised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 2014 Lok Sabha campaign.
