Poppy seeds and foreign cigarettes worth over Rs 25 lakh seized in Manipur’s Moreh

Guwahati/IBNS: Security forces have seized a huge quantity of poppy seeds and foreign cigarettes worth over Rs 25 lakh in Manipur's’ Moreh.

According to the reports, while conducting routine frisking and checking at Kondong Lairembi police check post, the Moreh police intercepted two vehicles which were coming from Moreh to Imphal.

During checking, the police team found a huge quantity of foreign cigarettes and poppy seeds in the vehicles.

Moreh police seized 51 boxes ESSE light cigarettes, 100 boxes Black cigarettes, 100 boxes Ruili River cigarettes and 75 bags of poppy seeds.

Security personnel apprehended the drivers of the vehicles and also seized the vehicles.

Police suspected that the foreign cigarettes were smuggled from Myanmar.
