Irinjalakkuda , Jan 29 (IBNS): An exponent of Ottanthullal, Kalamandalam Geethanandan, has collapsed to death on stage while performing at a temple in Irinjalakkuda in Kerala's Thrissaur district, media reports said.

A video which went viral, shows how he had fallen down in front of the percussion artist with folded hands.

The dancer was rushed to a hospital but that turned out to be too late.

The 58-year old dancer was a retired head of the Thullal Department at Kalamandalam Deemed University of Art and Culture.

Mourning his death, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said Geethananda's death is a great loss to the art and culture of the state.
