Jalandhar/UNI: A local court on Friday remanded Bhupinder Singh Honey, nephew of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till Feb 8 in connection with money laundering and illegal sand mining case.

Honey was arrested by the ED officials on Thursday night after he joined investigations at the Jalandhar office of the central agency.

He was produced before the court on Friday.

The ED sought 14-day custody of Honey for interrogation but the court after hearing the arguments of the prosecution and defence, ordered four-day custody.

The ED had conducted raids on January 18 at various locations belonging to Honey and his associates.

The ED had recovered Rs 10 crore in cash, gold and incriminating documents from Honey's premises.

He was asked to appear for further investigation at Jalandhar office of the central agency, where he was arrested late last night and was produced in a local court today.
