Punjab: Four Babbar Khalsa International operatives arrested

| @indiablooms | Oct 29, 2023, at 07:54 pm

In a significant operation carried out on Saturday, the Punjab Police succeeded in busting a terror module linked to the banned pro-Khalistani outfit, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

The law enforcement agency apprehended four operatives of the extremist group, thereby averting potential acts of terror aimed at targeted killings.

Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, shed light on the operation, underlining that the arrested individuals were directed by their handlers to execute targeted killings. The success of the operation marks a monumental breakthrough in combating terrorism and ensuring public safety in the region.

The operation also led to the seizure of six pistols and 275 cartridges from the arrested operatives, amplifying the magnitude of threat that has been neutralized. The precision and timeliness of the action by Punjab Police have undoubtedly thwarted dangerous terror plots that could have caused substantial loss and turmoil.

DG Yadav, took to social media platform X to share the news of the successful operation, “@sasnagarpolice has busted a terrorist module and arrested 4 operatives of outfit BKI (Babbar Khalsa International). The BKI module was tasked for targeted killings,” he posted, highlighting the critical mission the operatives were assigned.

In a deeper probe into the terror module’s operations and support, it was unearthed that a Pakistan-based terrorist, Harvinder Rinda, was backing the module. Rinda, in conjunction with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), was providing logistical support to the BKI operatives.

A startling revelation was the use of drones for smuggling weapons across the border from Pakistan, as shared by Yadav.

This advanced modus operandi indicates a high level of planning and support from across the border, reaffirming the transnational nature of the terror threat faced.

This operation has not only derailed the immediate terror plots but also showcased the effectiveness and readiness of India in dealing with sophisticated terror networks.

It also sends a strong message to anti-India entities that the nation’s law enforcement agencies are a step ahead in ensuring the security and well-being of the citizens.

The collaborative efforts between different security agencies and the use of modern technology will continue to be pivotal in dismantling terror networks and ensuring peace in the region.
