Rahul Gandhi pays tribute to Pulwama martyrs, questions Modi government over probe

| @indiablooms | Feb 14, 2020, at 12:29 pm

New Delhi/UNI: On the day the country remembers martyrs of Pulwama terror attack, former Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a fresh attack against Narendra Modi government, asking who benefitted from the attack and what is the outcome of the inquiry into the incident.

“Today as we remember our 40 CRPF martyrs in the Pulwama attack, let us ask: 1. Who benefitted the most from the attack? 2. What is the outcome of the inquiry into the attack? 3. Who in the BJP government has yet been held accountable for the security lapses that allowed the attack?”, Gandhi asked on twitter.

On February 14, 2019, over 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel were killed in a deadly terror attack by the suicide bomber of Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammad in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, which caused a nationwide protest.

Subsequently, on February 26, the Indian Air Force (IAF) launched a counter-terror attack against the terror camps in Balakot in Pakistan.

It seems that +Gandhi’s questions were a reference to the BJP’s campaign in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, based on the dastardly terror attack.

The Congress also paid tribute to the Pulwama martyrs and tweeted, “One year ago we lost over 40 brave jawans in Pulwama to horrific violence and hate. Everyday young men and women sacrifice their lives so our nation can be safe. Today we honour our martyrs and pay tribute to their tremendous valour and dedication. Jai Hind”

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to the martyrs who lost their lives in the Pulwama attack and said, “they were exceptional individuals who devoted their lives to serving and protecting our nation. India will never forget their martyrdom”.
