Rahul Gandhi shows solidarity with FTII protesting students

| | Jul 31, 2015, at 06:48 pm
Pune, July 31 (IBNS): Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Friday interacted with the students of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), who have been on strike over the appointment of television actor Gajendra Chauhan as their chairman.
Speaking to the students, Rahul said, "This is not just about your institute. It is happening across the board-in our education system and our bureaucracy too."

"A single idea of our country is being promoted and all those who disagree are being silenced," he said.

Criticising Rahul's interference, actor Paresh Rawal told reporters, " I want to ask to the students of FTII that if they don't see a chairman like quality in Gajendra, then do they see their chairman in Rahul Gandhi?"

The students are protesting over the appointment of actor Gajendra Chauhan as the new chairman of the institution for over two month now.

The students of the prestigious institute have questioned the process of selecting Chauhan for the post who is also a member of the ruling BJP party.

Chauhan was well known for playing the role of  "Yudhishthira" in the popular Indian TV serial Mahabharat.
