Randhir Jaiswal takes over as MEA spokesperson

Randhir Jaiswal on Wednesday took charge as the Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs.

He is succeeding Arindam Bagchi.

Bagchi has been appointed as India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

He was appointed as the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs in March 2021.

During his tenure, several important events and issues, including the Eastern Ladakh border dispute, India’s COVID-19 management, India’s G-20 chairmanship, occurred.

Jaiswal posted on X: " The baton passes on!Shri Randhir Jaiswal assumes charge as the Official Spokesperson of @MEAIndia as Shri Arindam Bagchi proceeds on overseas assignment."

Randhir Jaiswal had earlier served as consul general of India to New York.
