Road accident in Rajasthan leaves 17 people dead

Jaipur, Mar 3 (IBNS): Seventeen people died in a jeep-truck collision in Rajasthan's Hanumangarh district on Friday, according to media reports.

The accident took place in Hanumangarh town police station area on Rawatsar-Hanumangarh mega highway, reports said.

The injured have been taken to a local hospital.

Those killed or injured were travelling in an overcrowded jeep, reported local media.

Ashok Gehlot, former chief minister of Rajasthan, tweeted "Deeply saddened to know of the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in #Hanumangarh.May God give strength to bereaved families #Rajasthan."
