Ruckus over Delhi violence: Lok Sabha adjourned till 2 pm

When the House reassembled after first adjournment at noon, Opposition members were on their feet to start their protest.

Kirit Solanki, who was in the Chair, said important issues on Dalits and OBCs have to be discussed.

''You all are seniors,'' he said and urged the opposition to allow the House to run but to no avail.

Within few minutes, the Chair adjourned the House till 2 pm.

The House was adjourned multiple times on first two days of the session amid Opposition uproar over the Delhi violence that claimed 47 lives.

Earlier, the Opposition parties, including Congress, All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), were up on their seats raising slogans and carrying placards which read "We want justice''.

Notably, Speaker Om Birla was not present and the proceedings were chaired by Solanki.

Urging the agitating members to maintain calm, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Tuesday, the government had agreed for a debate on the issue for March 11.

There are several important matters to be taken up in the session which needs the support of all the parties, he said.

When his requests went unheeded, Joshi said, ''The Opposition parties are not interested in any kind of discussion but only want to disrupt the proceedings.''

Two questions were taken up during the Question Hour but as nothing could be heard in the din.
