Russian Ambassador to India Alexander Kadakin dies of cardiac arrest

New Delhi, Jan 26 (IBNS) : Russian ambassador to India, Alexander Kadakin, died in Delhi on Thursday moring following a cardiac arrest, the External Affairs Ministry said. He was 68.

"Deeply saddened at the passing away of Ambassador Alexander Kadakin," Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.

"He was an admirable diplomat, a great friend of India & a fluent Hindi speaker who tirelessly contributed to stronger India-Russia ties," Modi said.

Kadakin was the Russian ambassador to India since 2009.

MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted : "In Kadakin, we lost a valued friend who nurtured India-Russia relationship for many decades as a distinguished Russian diplomat."
