Saradha: CBI raids 21 locations in three states

New Delhi, Aug 28 (IBNS): The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday said it has conducted searches in 21 locations across several states in connection with its probe into the multi-crore Saradha chitfund scam.

"The Central Bureau of Investigation has today conducted searches in 21 locations spread across West Bengal, Assam and Mumbai at the office & residential premises belonging to various persons having close connection with the group of companies of West Bengal against whom cases have been registered recently on the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the alleged multi-crore chit fund scam," the CBI said in a statement.

"In West Bengal, searches were conducted at 6 locations, including premises of two businessmen; an Ex PA of a Bengal Minister; an Ex IPS Officer; In Assam at 14 locations, including the residential premises of Ex Minister & MLA; another MLA; Ex-DGP, Assam and in Mumbai at the premises of an artist.Incriminating documents relating to various business transactions of the concerned companies have been recovered. CBI had registered four cases in West Bengal and 44 in Odisha this year in the multi-crore chit fund scam on the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India," it said.

The probe agency said it will continue its investigation into the case.
