SC dismisses probe into Sahara- Birla diaries

| | Jan 11, 2017, at 10:25 pm
New Delhi, Jan 11 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that there will not be any Special Investigation Team investigation into the Sahara diaries case.

Lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan had filed a freash affidavit into the case after which a hearing took place.

The court reportedly said there were not enough evidence in the case.

The case assumes significance as it  deals with allegations of bribes paid to politicians including Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was serving as the Chief Minisrter of Gujarat.

After winning the Lok Sabha polls in 2014, Modi quit as the CM of Gujarat.

He took oath as the Prime Minister of India.

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi recently accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of taking kickbacks from two business groups when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, a charge that the BJP immediately rubbished calling Gandhi the biggest patron of corruption who is on bail in the National Herald case.

Rahul Gandhi alleged that Modi had received crores in kickbacks when he was serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Addressing a rally, Rahul Gandhi said: "In 6 months time, Sahara people have given money to PM Modi nine times."

BJP rubbished the claims and allegations.
