SC verdict on Ayodhya: Colleges, universities remain closed in Kashmir
Srinagar/UNI: The divisional administration in Kashmir had imposed restrictions and ordered closure of Universities and colleges as a precautionary measure on Saturday, when Supreme Court gave its verdict on the Ayodhya-Babri Masjid land dispute case.
However, students of all educational institutions, including colleges and universities, have stayed away from their classes since August 5, when Centre scrapped Article 370, besides downgrading the state into two Union Territories (UTs).
The administration on Saturday imposed restrictions in the valley, including Srinagar, as a precautionary measure, officials said.
They said the restrictions have been imposed to maintain law and order. It was ordered that all colleges and universities will remain closed today.
The Board of School Education (BOSE) has also postponed 12th class examinations which were scheduled to be held today in the valley.
However, people, who are observing strike since August 5 against scrapping of special status of the state, remained unconcerned.
