SCO: Narendra Modi meets 'trusted friend' Ashraf Ghani in Bishkek

Bishkek, June 14 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met  Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit on Thursday.

This was his first meeting with the Afghanistan leader since he took oath as the PM of India for a second consecutive term.

"Late night meeting between trusted friends. PM @narendramodi met with Afghan President @ashrafghani on sidelines of #SCOsummit in Bishkek. Shared perspectives on situation in Afghanistan, including the role played by India towards an inclusive peace process.@IndianEmbKabul," MEA spolesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.

Modi is currently attending the meet.

He has met Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping during this visit on the sidelines of the event.
