Shiv Sena joins forces with BJP for Lok Sabha polls
Mumbai, Feb 18 (IBNS): Shiv Sena will join hands with the BJP for the general elections due by May, media reports said.
Uddhav Thackeray, the Shiv Sena chief and BJP president Amit Shah are expected to hold a joint news conference to announce their alliance that comes at the end of extended negotiations.
The Shiv Sena had lately been publicly attacking the BJP, its longtime ally.
Citing sources, NDTV said the BJP is likely to contest from 25 seats, and the Shiv Sena from 23. For the Assembly elections scheduled to take place in the state later this year, both the parties will contest from an equal number of seats.
Maharashtra's BJP chief minister Devendra Fadnavis visited Thackeray at his home last week.
