Srinagar, May 26 (IBNS): Two siblings have been drowned in Jehlum River in North Kashmir Sopore town of Baramulla District, police said on Thursday.
Eight-year-old Falak Jan was washing her face at river Jehlum near Jamia Masjid when she accidentally fell into the river on Thursday afternoon.

“When she slipped and fell into the river, her brother Rashid Ahmed (12) rowed a shikara to save her drowning sister. He tried to catch the hand of her sister when the boat turned turtle which resulted in the drowning of the siblings in the Jehlum,” said an eyewitness.

Soon after the incident, the local people launched an operation to retrieve the bodies.

Confirming the incident, a senior police officer said, "We are all on the rescue job and all efforts are on to locate the siblings."
