Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh visit Shanti Vana to pay homage to Jawaharlal Nehru

New Delhi, Nov 14 (IBNS): UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and former PM Manmohan Singh on Wednesday visited  Shanti Vana here to pay their tributes to late ex-PM of India Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary.

Shanti Vana is the memorial of the late first PM of the country.

"Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh & UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi pay their respects to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary at Shanti Vana," Congress tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday remembered former Indian PM Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary.

Modi said Nehru's contributions during India's freedom struggle will always be recalled.

"Remembering our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary. We recall his contribution to our freedom struggle and during his tenure as Prime Minister," he tweeted.

Apart from Modi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said: "Respectful homage to India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ji on his birth anniversary."

Nehru's birthday is observed as Children's Day in India.
