Bengaluru/IBNS/UNI: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday said former AICC President Sonia Gandhi will be attending the meeting of opposition parties' leaders scheduled in Bengaluru on July 17 and 18.

"A meeting of the opposition parties will be held on July 17 and 18. Mallikarjun Kharge has requested Sonia Gandhi to attend this meeting. We have received a message about her participation in the meeting," he told reporters here.

Shivakumar said the party will hold a silent protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on July 12 to protest against Rahul Gandhi's disqualification from the Lok Sabha.

He also condemned those for "conspiring to finish Rahul Gandhi politically". The protest will be held from 10 am to 4 pm at Freedom Park wearing black cloth on their mouths, he stated.

"A large number of party workers including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will be participating in the meeting to protest against the central government's conspiracy," Shivakumar said.

Earlier, the meeting was scheduled for July 13 and 14 but was postponed as the dates clashed with assembly sessions in a few states.
