Chennai, Oct 17 (IBNS): DMK treasurer and former Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, his party MLAs and other functionaries were arrested in Chennai on Monday while demanding constitution of the Cauvery Water Management Board, reports said.

Various farmers' organisations on Monday began a 48-hour rail roko in Tiruchi and delta districts to press for the demand,  The Hindu reported.

Former DMK Minister K.N. Nehru courted arrest after attempting a blockade at the Srirangam Railway Station. Senior DMK leader Durai Murugan was also  arrested after a rail roko at Katpadi junction.

However, authorities said rail services were not disrupted.
