Supreme Court refuses to entertain ex-Mumbai police commissioner's plea, asks him to approach HC

New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to entertain former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh's plea seeking CBI probe against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

The top Court asked Singh to approach the High Court with his petition.

The former Mumbai Police chief, in a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, had alleged that Deshmukh had been holding meetings at his residence since February with Vaze and Assistant Police Commissioner Sanjay Patil bypassing the seniority rules and had also asked them to collect Rs 100 crore every month.

The petition filed by Singh through Advocate Abhinay stated, "The petitioner has invoked writ jurisdiction of this Hon’ble Court to seek unbiased, uninfluenced, impartial and fair investigation in the corrupt malpractices of Shri Anil Deshmukh, the Hon’ble Home Minister of Government of Maharashtra, before the evidences are destroyed.”

Singh had also stated that the decision to transfer him from the post was a "political move with oblique purposes and sinister motives".
