Suspected DNLA militants kill five persons, torch five trucks in Assam’s Dima Hasao

Guwahati: Suspected militants of Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) killed five people and burnt down five trucks in Assam’s Dima Hasao district on Thursday night.

The incident took place at Diyungmukh ranger bill area in the hill district where suspected armed militants had first fired on the trucks and later set ablaze it.

Dima Hasao district Superintendent of Police (SP) Jayant Singh said that, five persons killed and one injured in the incident.

“Suspected militants had fired on the trucks and later burnt down it. Five persons including drivers and handymen of the trucks were killed in the attack,” Jayant Singh said.

According to the reports, the trucks were coming from Umrangso towards Lanka.

On the other hand, a police official of Diyungmukh police station said that, suspected militants of Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) were involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, security forces have launched operations against the attackers in the area.
