TDP to bring No Confidence Motion against Modi Govt in monsoon session

| @indiablooms | Jul 13, 2018, at 12:52 pm

Hyderabad, July 13 (IBNS) : Deciding to intesify stir against the Centre to achieve the state's "right",  the Telugu Desam Party is set to move a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led NDA Government in the coming monsoon session of the Parliament over the demand for special category status to Andhra Pradesh, media reports said.

The MPs were instructed to garner the support of MPs of other parties from Friday itself.

Chief Minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu during a meeting with the party MPs at his residence on Thursday evening, directed them to seek the support of all political parties except the BJP and Congress in favour of the motion against the Government, run by the TDP's estranged ally.

He also informed them that he will personally make phone calls to leaders of Opposition parties and will seek their support.

The demand for the special category status for Andhra Pradesh has been a big issue ever since the bifurcation of the state and now proves to be the driving force for the TDP facing Assembly election this year.

Naidu had pulled out his ministers from PM Modi's Government and end their alliance in March this year.

Around that time he had once said that he would move a no-confidence motion as the "last resort" against the Narendra Modi Government with the support of other parties to get “justice” for the southern state.

TDP   tried to bring a no-confidence motion against the Government  after arch-rival Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress sent a notice. However, the no-confidence motions were not been taken up due to repeated adjournments in parliament.

Ties between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and TDP came under severe strain after the southern party accused the Centre of making “insufficient” allocations for Andhra Pradesh in the Budget 2018-19.
