Islamabad/UNI: A terrorist was killed and three others were injured during a military operation in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, confirmed a fire exchange took place between security forces and terrorists in the Tirah area of the Khyber district bordering Afghanistan, resulting in one death and three injuries.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists, said the ISPR, adding that the sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists in the area.

On Tuesday, the Counter Terrorist Department of police in the country's eastern Punjab province foiled a major terror bid and arrested nine terrorists during intelligence-based operations.
