Terrorist, three OGW's killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, Mar 5 (IBNS): Four people, including one terrorist, were killed on Sunday evening in a gunfight with security forces in Shopian district of South Kashmir.

According to Defence spokesman a joint Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) was fired upon by terrorists near Pahnoo village in Shopian district of south Kashmir at 8 p.m.

In retaliatory firing, a terrorist, who was identified as Shahid Ahmad Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, resident of Jamnagri of Shopian, was killed and a weapon was recovered from his possession.

"Three OGWs/ accomplices in the car who were accompanying the terrorist were also found to be dead," said the spokesperson.

Police have reached the spot and started legal formalities, spokesman added.

The Army claimed the three killed persons were  Over Ground Workers (OGW's) of terrorists.

Police, however, are yet to confirm their exact identity.

Locals claimed that the three slain persons were civilians without any militant connections.
