New Delhi, Sept 1 (IBNS): India on Thursday called Pakistan's effort to raise global concern over Kashmir issue by writing letters to the United Nations “baseless and untenable.”

Minister of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Vikas Swarup, whilde addressing media, said: "They (Pakistan) can write as many letters as they want (to UN). It won't change the ground situation that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India."

He said the ground reality is that a part of Jammu and Kashmir is under the illegal occupation of Pakistan.

Swarup also said India will continue to raise the issue of human rights violation in Balochistan.

Earlier, PM Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day speech in New Delhi, had said that people of Balochistan, Gilgit, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir have thanked him for drawing attention to their troubles.
