Gandhinagar, Mar 9 (UNI): One Cabinet Minister and two Ministers of State were inducted in the council of ministers of CM Vijay Rupani on Saturday.

Governor O P Kohli administered oath to Jawahar Chavda, the former Congress MLA from Manavadar seat in Junagadh district who had resigned from his seat yesterday to join BJP, as Cabinet Minister.

Seven-term MLA from Manjalpur in Vadodara Yogesh Patel took oath as MoS while Jamnagar West MLA Dharmedrasinh Jadeja was also inducted as MoS.

CM Vijay Rupani, Dy CM Nitin Patel, BJP state president Jeetu Vaghani and other leaders were also present in the oath taking ceremony.

Patel later said that the CM would allocate the portfolios to the newly appointed ministers later.

To a query, he said that as there were still berths vacant in the council of ministers, the CM could do another expansion if the need be. He said that attempts to give representation to maximum communities and geographies in the cabinet have been made by the BJP government.

Now there are 11 cabinet ministers in Vijay Rupani cabinet (including Dy CM) and 12 MoS. CM Rupani can still induct 3 more ministers in his council to reach the maximum permissible limit in this regard which is 27.
