Munger/UNI:  Three members of a family were burnt alive in the inferno at Kahua Mushahri village under Sangrampur police station area in the district late last night.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ramesh Kumar said here today that an old woman and her two grandchildren were fast asleep when their house got fire.

All of them were burnt alive in the incident, he added.

"Both the children in the age group of 10 to 12 years were living with the grandmother as their parents, daily wage earners got stuck in Delhi after lockdown was enforced across the country to fight the threat of Coronavirus infection," Kumar said, adding that bodies had been sent for postmortem.

DSP said that short circuit was stated to be the reason behind breaking out the fire. A case in this connection had been registered at a concerned police station, he added.
