Train derails in Mathura stations as employee on video call places bag on throttle; 1 injured

Mathura: A stationary train unexpectedly moved onto the platform at Mathura Junction Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, prompting a high-level investigation, media reports said.

A woman sustained injuries when the train rolled back onto the tracks and onto the platform late Tuesday night, reported NDTV.

The incident was captured by a security camera onboard the train.

The footage shows a Railways staff member entering the engine cabin after all passengers had disembarked the train.

Sachin, engrossed in a video call, places his bag on the throttle of the engine. As he continues with his call, the pressure from the bag shifts the throttle forward, causing the train to move towards the platform, said the report.

As a result, the train begins to move, breaking the dead end, and a portion of it climbs onto the platform.

Divisional Railway Manager Tej Prakash Agrawal stated that five people, including Sachin, have been suspended, and a high-level probe has been initiated to determine the precise cause of the incident, NDTV reported.

An inquiry has been started to ascertain whether Sachin, who entered the cabin to retrieve the keys, was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
