Trinamool Congress govt took Bengal to new lows in 10 years: Amit Shah

Kolkata/IBNS: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said the Trinamool Congress government took West Bengal to new lows in its two terms, in another attack on the incumbent in poll-bound state.

Shah, who held a virtual rally in Jhargram after his helicopter had developed a technical glitch, said, "In the last 10 yrs, the TMC govt has taken Bengal to new lows.

"Corruption, political violence, polarization, Hindus and SC/STs had to go to courts for celebrating their festivals - this is the sort of situation they have brought to the state, ruining development in the state."

"Bengal was at one time India's leader. It was the hub of education, freedom fighters, religious leadership and more. The same Bengal is entangled in Gundaraj!" he added in his shortest speech in recent times.

In an announcement, Shah said, "After forming the government in West Bengal, we will build the Pt. Raghunath Murmu Tribal University for improving opportunities for tribal students. The Stand Up India schemes will invest Rs 100 crore in Bengal to uplift tribals."

Giving a huge setback to the Trinamool in the 2019 General Elections, the BJP had managed to win in Jhargram, which was once a pride of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party.

While the Trinamool is aiming to win back the lost ground not just in Jhargram but in entire north Bengal, the BJP is looking to hold on to its performance giving itself a chance to form government in the state.

Shah, a tall BJP leader and a gamechanger for his saffron party, on Sunday once again reiterated that the BJP will win over 200 seats in the upcoming polls, dashing Mamata's hope to return to power.

Under Shah, the BJP has swept all major regions of the country and West Bengal is undoubtedly the last frontier to be conquered leaving aside south India.
