Truckers to begin nationwide indefinite strike from today,

| @indiablooms | Jul 20, 2018, at 12:26 pm

Mumbai, July 20 (IBNS) : Truckers from across the country go  on an indefinite strike from Friday to press for demands, including removal of the daily pricing mechanism for diesel, toll collection and reduction in insurance premium.

The strike has been called by the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), which claims that over 9.3 million members will participate in it.

Last-ditch efforts are being made by the Government to dissuade truckers from going ahead with the "Chakka Jam" plan, which was announced in May.

Media reports quoted AIMTC leaders as saying that supply of essential commodities including vegetables, fruits and fuel to the city will not be affected because of the strike as  500-odd trucks entering the market on a daily basis would continue to bring goods.
