New Delhi/IBNS: Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday tweeted that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

The 49-year-old said he was feeling "fit and fine" despite contracting the infection.

"After getting repeated test for Covid-19, today my report has come out positive. I'm taking the advice of the Doctors. I request all those who have come in my contact recently to be observant, exercise self-quarantine and get themselves tested. I'm physically fit and fine," he wrote in his Twitter post.

Rijiju was in Uttarakhand's Tehri on Friday to inaugurate a Water Sports and Adventure Institute.

The Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal West constituency of Arunachal Pradesh was recently given the charge of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) after Shripad Naik met with an accident and hospitalised.

On Thursday, the minister visited Nelong Valley region of Uttarkashi along with the director-general of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Surjeet Singh Deswal.
