UP govt says 'external elements fuelled Noida violence' as 45 of 66 arrested are not workers

Officials said the findings emerged from an ongoing investigation into the incidents, which saw protests escalate into clashes, arson and vandalism.

Authorities cite ‘planned conspiracy’

According to the official statement, authorities acted swiftly to counter what was described as a “well-planned conspiracy” aimed at creating disorder under the cover of a labour movement.

The administration added that the situation was brought under control within hours, and industrial operations in the region have since resumed.

Arrests linked to arson and incitement

Investigators reported that of the 17 individuals identified in arson-related cases, 11 have been arrested, with eight among them classified as non-workers.

In cases linked to incitement, 19 out of 32 identified individuals have been taken into custody.

Additionally, 34 people who were not part of the workforce were apprehended for allegedly participating in the protests and contributing to unrest.

Probe examines organised network links

Authorities have also arrested four individuals accused of planning the events, with their possible links to organised networks currently under examination.

The government indicated that the unrest may not have been limited to labour-related grievances but could involve broader attempts to disrupt the industrial ecosystem in Noida.

Social media activity under scrutiny

The role of social media platforms in spreading misinformation and intensifying tensions is also being investigated, according to officials.

Authorities are examining multiple accounts and digital communications linked to the mobilisation of crowds during the protests.

The statement noted that some women from different states were found to be involved in the protests and in supporting those engaged in violent activities.

Situation 'under control'

Officials said that action taken under the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath helped restore order.

Following the announcement of a wage increase, both workers and industry stakeholders reportedly cooperated, allowing industrial operations to resume.

Factories across Noida are now functioning normally, with authorities monitoring the situation.

The state government reiterated its stance of strict enforcement against any attempt to disrupt public order and confirmed that further action would be taken against those found involved in the incident.
