Lucknow/UNI: Newly appointed president of Uttar Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, has resigned from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's cabinet where he was serving as the Panchayati Raj Minister.

Singh resigned under the party's "one man, one post" policy.

He announced his resignation on social media with a tweet in Hindi Tuesday.

Singh tweeted, "To properly execute the responsibility of the state president of BJP, I have resigned from the cabinet. I am grateful to the Chief Minister for his directives from time to time and to the Prime Minister for his inspirational guidance and blessings."

Singh has sent his resignation to the CM and it has been accepted, official sources said.

It may be noted that this is not the first time when a BJP leader has resigned from the ministerial post after being appointed as the state president.

Swatantra Dev Singh had also resigned from the post of Transport Minister after being appointed as the state president.
