Uttar Pradesh: Man kills son, injures wife, daughter, commits suicide

Farrukhabad: A businessman killed his son, injured his wife and daughter with a sharp-edged weapon and later committed suicide allegedly due to financial crisis in Jahanganj area of Farrukhabad district here in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, police sources said here.

Police sources said that Dinesh (35), a resident of Ratanpur village, was a grain businessman and was distressed financially due to loans on him.

"In the wee hours on Sunday Dinesh attacked his wife Meena, son Osiyan (5) and daughter Anshi (12) with a sharp-edged weapon injuring them seriously," they said.

Police sources said that after hearing the cries of Dinesh's family neighbours and other family members reached the spot.

"After attacking his family Dinesh hanged himself with a tree 200 meters away from his house and committed suicide," they said.

Police sources said that Dinesh's sister somehow managed to get the door of the house opened and found Osiyan dead.

"Meena and Anshi, who sustained serious injuries, have been admitted to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia hospital for treatment," they said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikas Kumar along with Station House Officer (SHO) Manoj Bhati, Circle Officer (CO) Arun Kumar and forensic team reached the spot and launched an investigation. "The body has been sent to Fatehgarh for post mortem examination," they said.
